Add a couple of funny eyes to the picture of a cat or any other animal.

This tutorial is a second version of this one: Funny eyes
Now the eyes fits better in the animal face and are blended in a better way.

1) Open a picture of any animal, I have used a cat picture this time

2) Create a new layer and rename the layer as “left eye”.

3) Draw a circle with the Eliptical Marquee Tool in the left eye of the cat while holding SHIFT key to get a perfect circle.

4) Fill the background with white color #ffffff.

5) Double click the “left eye” layer to choose Blending Options and use these settings:

Drop Shadow:

Inner Shadow:

Bevel and Emboss:

6) Create another layer and rename it as “left eye circle”.

7) Select the Eliptical Marquee Tool and draw a circle over the last circle a litle smaller while holding SHIFT key.

8) Fill the background with any color you choose, in this case I have used color #564b3c.

9) Now you have the left eye almost finished.
Duplicate both layers to make the right eye in the same way, just assure to change the direction of the eyelid with the Inner Shadow option, in this case I used 100º angle.

10) Move the layers to get the effect you like and you have finished.

11) This is the final effect:

You can use this effect with almost any animal picture.

Make golden text in minutes only using Blending Options.

I have seen many tutorials that make gold effects on text using channels, flatten image or rasterize. Here you will learn to make golden text only using Blending Options.

1) Create a new image 400×150 pixels with white background.

2) Fill the background with black color #000000

3) Add some text. I have used CType AOE 48 px:

4) Right click the text layer and choose Blending Options, use these settings:

Outer Glow: use this color: #ffcc00

Bevel and Emboss:

Inside this option go to the Shading section and click on Gloss Contour. Then make some curves similar to these:

Gradient overlay: use these colors #ffcc00 —> #ebcc50 —> #ffcc00

5) The final result is:

6) The nice thing about this tutorial is that you can use the same effect on any font including symbol fonts. Just duplicate the layer and change the font.

I have tested some different fonts and this is what I got:

Make a glowing menu in few steps.

1) Create a new image 200×240 pixels with white background.

2) Fill the background with dark grey color #666666

3) Create a new layer, rename this layer as “element”, make a rectangle selection and fill it with any color. I have done a selection 140×20 pixels.

4) Right click the “element” layer and choose Blending Options, use these settings:

Drop Shadow:

Outer Glow:

Gradient overlay: use these colors #ffba00 —> #f3d481

Stroke: use this color: #f4f4f4

The result is:

5) Now add some text to the menu element. I have used Trebuchet MS bold 18 px:

6) Right click the text layer and choose Blending Options, use these settings:

Drop Shadow:

The result is:

7) Duplicate the element layer and text layer to make more menu elements.
The final result is:

8) I like the obtained result, but if you still want more glow, just change the Outer Glow to the element layers.
Just test with the Size property, I have changed the original 8px to 12px and this is the result:

Now you can start to design your website with this nice glowing menu.

With this tutorial you will learn to make a nice glowing map effect.

1) Create a new image 400×300 with white background.

2) Fill the background with black color #000000

3) Select Layer > New > Background from Layer to convert the background to a normal layer. Rename that layer to “Effect”

4) Make sure you have white color as foreground color and black color as background color. To get this just press key “D” and then key “X” to inverse colors. This is because some effects like Neon Glow depend of these settings.

5) While you have selected “Effect” layer go to Filter > Render > Clouds

6) Then go to Filter > Brush Strokes > Ink outlines. I have used these settings:

You can try different setting to achieve an effect similar to this:

7) Go to Filter > Artistic > Neon Glow. I have used a blue color # 0500ff and these settings:

The result is:

8) Repeat again the step 7) :

9) Now go to Image > Adjustments > Color Balance and change the Shadows settings to:

The final result is:
